About Douneside House

Enjoy a truly luxurious stay at Douneside House – a beautiful property located on the MacRobert Estate, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Recently renovated rooms are decorated in a contemporary style, but still maintain original features, antique furniture and artwork.

Make the most of the onsite Health Club with a dip in the pool or a relaxing yoga class, or wander the 17 acres of flagship gardens and admire the exceptional plants.

The rooms

13 rooms are located in the main building. Each is elegantly furnished, and blends Scottish tradition with modern luxuries. Many Standard Rooms have beautiful views of the grounds and Aberdeenshire countryside.

The Premier Room boasts a private terrace and seating area – the ideal spot for an evening glass of wine. The spacious Deluxe Rooms are complete with antique furniture, a flat-screen TV, hospitality tray and Molton Brown toiletries. Three cottages are also available: Pine has two bedrooms, whilst Gatehouse and Alpha both have three. Each cottage features a sitting area, kitchen and garden with patio.

On the doorstep and nearby

Be sure to make the most of the fine sporting and leisure pursuits that Scotland has to offer. Enjoy a wealth of walking and climbing opportunities, fish for rainbow trout on the MacRobert Estate's lochan, or go salmon fishing on the Rivers Dee and Don. Golfing enthusiasts should visit the nearby village of Tarland with its 9-hole course. Balmoral is also nearby – when the Royal Family is not in residence, the grounds are open to the public.

If you fancy a spot of retail therapy, head to Aberdeen. As well as a modern shopping centre, the city also boasts magnificent granite buildings, a beach and harbour.

Worth staying in for ...
