The rooms
The family-run Hawksmoor Guesthouse has 11 rooms sleeping two adults and one family room that accommodates up to four people.

All bedrooms are comfortable and bright, with stunning yet simple decor. Each has an en-suite and many have beautiful woodland or garden views.

All rooms have modern facilities such as WiFi, flat screen TVs, DVD players and iPod docking stations.

On the doorstep and nearby
The majestic Cumbrian town of Windermere takes its name from nearby Lake Windermere, the largest lake in England. The busy town has a variety of local shops, including the flagship store for cookware specialist Lakeland, and is a hotspot for outdoor activities. Felltop hikes and diverse cycle routes are on the doorstep, but the main focal point is Bowness-on-Windermere. Here visitors can enjoy a scenic boat trip around the lake and its 18 islands.

On the southern tip of the lake sits the must-see Lakes Aquarium with its diverse range of native marine and freshwater fish. Nearby Kendal is also worth a visit, boasting the superb Abbot Hall Art Gallery and 1657 Chocolate House (a unique restaurant serving an assortment of chocolate based creations).

Slightly further afield you’ll find Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s 17th-century farmhouse and the inspiration behind many of her tales. The National Trust owned property is a time capsule of her life and hosts many tours and events.
