In the heart of the Lake District, Hillcrest22 is family-run guesthouse with eight en-suite rooms and panoramic views over Lake Derwentwater. Its name was inspired by the fact 22 of the Wainwright fells can be seen from the guesthouse. The Wainwrights are the 214 hills and mountains described in A. Wainwright's seven-volume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells.
The house was built by Lord of the Manor Reginald Dykes Marshall in 1887. The exterior remains the same today as it was 150 years ago, but the interior has been designed to provide comfortable and contemporary facilities whilst remaining loyal to its heritage.
Take in the views and tuck into afternoon tea in the elevated garden. In colder weather, curl up in front of the log fire in the open plan, glass-walled living/dining area.
Don't head out until you've started the day with a full English. Vegetarian options are available and, if you're planning a day trip, packed lunches and flasks of tea and coffee are available.
Eight stylish en-suite bedrooms situated on the first and second floors. The front of house rooms have views across Lake Derwentwater to the head of the Borrowdale valley. Rooms to the rear of the house overlook Keswick and the northern fells of Skiddaw, Latrigg and Blencathra.
The rooms at Hillcrest22 are furnished with locally handcrafted furniture and antique pieces. All rooms have the option of a king size or twin beds. The mattresses are 1000 pocket sprung for a very comfortable night's sleep. Duvets are feather light goose down. Micro fibre duvets are available for allergy suffers. The bed linen is 100 per cent luxury cotton.
