Just 20 minutes from the Lake District sits The Royal Oak Appleby, a multi-award winning 18th century inn with eight beautiful rooms and a cosy two-bed holiday cottage. The newly refurbished restaurant seats 62 people and serves a variety of quality British food and local cask ales. A private dining room seating 20 can also be booked for no additional cost.
Choose from double, twin or family rooms, all decorated in a contemporary style. Several have a flatscreen TV, mini bar and a luxury hospitality tray. The two Oak Family Rooms can sleep up to four people each and both can be booked for a group of eight. The Royal Oak Appleby is ideally situated in the loop of the River Eden, just a few miles from the Lake District. Be sure to visit Appleby Castle, The Courtyard Gallery or High Cup Winery - Cumbria’s only commercial vineyard and winery - all of which are right on the doorstep.
If you have time, head further afield to Penrith, home to the 14th century Brougham Hall, Lowther Castle and Whinfell Forest.
