Northumberland’s coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and, as such, its seaside town of Alnmouth is an attractive destination all year round. Boasting one of the best beaches on the heritage coast, it is the perfect base for outdoor activities, ranging from walking and cycling to surfing and kayaking. Alnmouth is also home to two fantastic golf courses.
The town has a great range of food on offer – Bistro 23, Hooked and The Red Lion are amongst the most celebrated restaurants, but you’ll find everything from take-away lobster and chips to pop-up burger shops.
Just 20 miles away sits Bamburgh Castle, the historic capital of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Northumbria. The Castle hosts a variety of events and is open all year round.
